Infinite Rinzai
Acrylic and Wall-paint
18x24

I made this piece inspired from Evan Gruzis's work, Heterodynamic Rinzai Technocracy. I responded to the lighting, space, and color that the work was giving off.  During our conversation, Evan brought up that lighting was an important aspect to his bodies of work. It was exciting for me to be able to respond really well with his works because my work also incorporates lighting, well rendered drawings and paintings, and composition. I took all three of those ideas and Evan's  color palette from his piece to invent my own abstract space describing and drawing the infinite possibilities of space. The word Rinzai is one of the two major buddhist sects in Japan, it stresses the abrupt awakening of transcendental wisdom, or enlightenment. The sphere is most important in my work because it best describes infinity and wisdom
